The French translation needs attention, but really should be more complete than that. Device should show as "Périphérique", for example.
If you speak any English, please write the gpsbabel-misc list with a bugreport on the language you've selected so we can figure out why we aren't displaying the translations we have. Better yet, help us improve the translations http://www.gpsbabel.org/tips/translate.html
